OUR JOURNEY

Owned and operated by a dynamic mother-daughter duo, STUDIO 218 has transformed since its inception in 2020 through thoughtful reflection and creative exploration.

Misha, an artisan, utilized the constraints of lockdown as a chance to delve into various artistic mediums, finding a particular passion for both Acrylic Resin and Polymer Clay. Recognizing the significant influence our environment has on our mood, behaviour, and overall well-being, STUDIO 218 adopted the concept of biophilic design by the end of 2022, aiming to foster a connection between people and nature.

Additionally, STUDIO 218 drew inspiration from the resurgence of handcrafted items in mainstream décor, apparel, and accessories. This shift led to an expansion of their product range, now featuring knitwear and crochet pieces lovingly crafted by Sandra, the mother in this creative partnership.

THEMES & MATERIALS

STUDIO 218 is dedicated to creating artisanal products that embody a passion for craftsmanship and the distinct qualities of handmade items. To honour this commitment, we produce our pieces in small batch quantities.

By embracing the principles of biophilic design, we prioritize the use of natural materials and elements in our creations. Most of our homeware items are crafted from a mineral base combined with a non-toxic, eco-friendly water-based binder, ensuring they are gentle on and kinder to the environment.

Inspired by biophilic design and our coastal location, we incorporate crushed sea shells and/ or beach sand into our homeware pieces.

In alignment with this philosophy, most of our apparel and accessories are crafted from cotton or cotton-blend materials. These fabrics and yarns are not only soft and lightweight, but also strong and durable, ensuring excellent breathability for a comfortable experience all year round.
